Holy Estrogen Batman!

We went on our 5th year anniversary date last night. Curtis found a buy one get one free deal on line for movie tickets and agreed to attend Mamma Mia! with me. We were sitting there thankful we had come a little early (we are used to the dollar theater crowds of 3-5 people). The theater was full and as we looked around 98% were female, but you didn't have to look around to notice that. A preview had a golden lab puppy running on the beach and the whole audience aaaaahhed in unison. As the first song of the show began most of the audience started to sing along. Curtis and I looked at each other, both thinking, "Oh no, what have we gotten ourselves into!" Surprisingly, the spontaneous singing did not continue.
The show was fun and just fun, you can't really take any of it seriously. We had a good time.
I didn't realized till we left the show that it was opening night for both Mamma Mia and Batman. That shows you how out of the movie loop I am. Seeing those hundreds of people sitting in the hall waiting to see a movie, knowing they paid at least $8.00 to see it left me with some really big questions. Maybe some of you can explain this, what I call, phenonomon.
Who has hours to sit and wait for a movie?
Do all these people really have $8.00 just begging to be spent on a movie?
Why do so many feel the need to spend so much time and money on a movie that if they just waited a month they could see it 8 times for the price they just paid and have their choice of seats?
Some may think I'm crazy for asking these questions, but I really don't get it. It's a movie. Oh, and don't get me started on sporting events. It's a ball. I don't care where it ends up.

Curtis has a girlfriend?

Curtis was called into work on one of his days off and just after he left Audrey said, "Did daddy's girlfriend tell him to go to work?" We all got a kick out of that, especially his "girlfriend".

My thoughts on polygamy...

I spent last week with my mother, sister and sister-in-law in California. Together we had 6 kids under the age of six (6, 3 1/2, 2 1/2, 18 months, 13 months and 3 months). There were no men around. It was so nice to always have someone there to help. Natalia was able to go to her son's class and help out while we stayed home, Becca was able to help Audrey use the bathroom while I was nursing, and I was able to go on bike rides with the oldest two boys. There was no need for babysitters and we always had someone to talk to. The kids played well together. Though we did not share a husband, which would be the hardest and most awkward part, we happily shared everything else, even the dirty diapers. I really enjoyed this situation, though we were all tired and ready to go home by the end of the week. We all agreed how nice it would be to at least live within a couple minutes of each other. I'm sad to say this will most likely not happen any time soon.

Two Blue Lines

I had been feeling nauseous and tired, so I took a pregnancy test a couple weeks ago. I got two bright blue lines. Curtis and I proceded to plan our lives with three little ones. The thought of irish twins in the same year, wow! We looked at minivans and then found out we can fit all three carseats in our matrix. We even took our house off the market. As I was packing for our trip to California I found Nathan's pregnancy test in the top drawer of my dresser. It looked different than this current one, so I read the directions. Two blue lines is a negative! You have to get a + sign to be positive. I took a big sigh of relief and a small sigh of disappointment. Though it would have been hard, it would have been exciting and fun at the same time.

Keeping Record

My mother had several small children close in age and still found time to write in each of our baby books. Many people tell me to write down the funny stories that occur so often and so I am using this blog as an easy way to journal, brag and work out my thoughts and to share them all with you.
